Cutting Aluminum & Brass Metals on a Wood Bandsaw

2008-1-17 · I saw Gary Bennett gave a demo on cutting metals with a wood bandsaw and the chips didn't bother him too much, he did say that he generally used blades that were too dull to cut wood well. We have a metal bandsaw, so don't allow it on the wood saws, but for the occasional alum, brass or up to 1/4", we use a 10" bandsaw that we have 12 ...

2005-5-9 · Hot-glue the metal to a larger piece of solid wood. Cut SLOWLY. The wood acts as an 'absolute zero' zero clearance throatplate. Cutting Aluminium with bandsaw? - woodworkforums

2008-7-15 · I have cut 3-6mm thick aluminium plates with normal bimetal (HSS tipped) bandsaw blade for wood. I'd go with something like from 4/5 TPI to 6/8 TPI (variable toothing). Aluminium has tendency to work harden, so I have found the best to go with coarse teeth, to cut deeper below previously cutted surface. It is just easier.
